Inseparable friends who live by the motto “all for one, one for all”. A motto which is first put forth by d’Artagnan.In genre, The Three Musketeers is primarily a historical novel and adventure.

However Alexandre Dumas also frequently works into the plot numerous injustices, abuses. And absurdities of the ancien regime, giving the novel a further political side. At a time when the controversy in France between republicans and monarchists was still fierce. The story was initially serialized from March to July 1844, throughout the July monarchy. 4 years before the French Revolution of 1848 was violently established the 2nd Republic.  Although adaptations tend to portray d’Artagnan and the 3 musketeers as heroes. The novel portrays less appealing characters, who are willing to commit violence over slight insults. So then through unquestionable loyalty to the Queen & the King, and treat their servants. Supposed social inferiors with contempt and violence.

Alexandre Dumas (1802-1870) was one in all the literary lights & author, writer of France during the best Romantic Revolution. His complete works eventually filling over 300 volumes.
